| Research interest | I extract DNA and proteins from archaeological materials (bones, dental calculus, sediments in archaeological context) to investigate diet, health, disease, and living environments of the past. I am particularly interested in the interactions between humans and their environments in a broad sense. My research mainly focuses on Japan from the Paleolithic to the Edo period, but I also work with materials from other regions, such as Peru. |
