Today, rapid growth of the numbers of Japanese deer and wild boars, and the expansion of their habitat throughout Japan, is causing not only damage to agriculture but also to the ecosystem and people’s lives. To deal with this problem, extermination has been positively done, however, in addition to a shortage of funds and people, the disposal of exterminated animals is also a problem. To face the reality of this situation, we will go to Yakushima where this problem has been worsening. We would like to study the effect of this problem on the precious natural environment of Yakushima which has been registered as a world natural heritage site.   Also, we will study about measures the local government is taking to cope with the nuisance wildlife management problem, and through interaction with various stakeholders we are aiming to train “Integrated-interdisciplinary ability”.
