When we look to the future of Asia, we see that Japan can offer its experience and knowledge in the areas of aging populations, declining birth rates and environmental problems. On the other hand, without the cooperation of other Asian countries, some problems, such as immigration and economic issues, are difficult to solve. With the arrival of an unpredictable knowledge-based society, we have questioned how to utilize the knowledge and skills we have gained, and how to cultivate an attitude that will create new knowledge, not just to acquire previously held knowledge and skills. Since Kyushu is close to other Asian countries, we believe that we are in a better position to produce leaders who can look ahead to the future of Asia and flourish.

Field work is a series of processes in which students go to actual sites, walk through, experience, research and sum up what they have learned. In contrast to so-called classroom learning, it gives students opportunities to discover something new and see things they never imagined they would see. On the other hand, field work comes with various risks. We might not be able to see good results or to do research at all because of external factors such as bad weather, natural disasters, and social unrest. Our lives can be in danger at times. That’s why the results that we do gain from such hard work are incomparable. Although overconfidence is unthinkable, we can truly enjoy this field work. You will quickly feel different about your daily life as you are surrounded by nature, animals, people and cultures. Join this program and go on your special working field trip.
