\u76ca\u5c3e\u77e5\u4f50\u5b50 \/ Chisako T. MASUO \/ \u8607\u742a\uff08Su Qi\uff09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chisako T. MASUO is a Professor of international relations at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies, Kyushu University, who focuses on Chinese foreign and maritime policies. She was given the Nakasone Yasuhiro Award of Excellence in 2021 and IHJ Opinion Award of Journalism in 2026 for her analysis on on China\u2019s maritime activities. She worked with late Harvard professor Ezra F. Vogel as his research assistant before obtaining a Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo, and served as his coordinate research scholar at Harvard-Yenching Institute in 2014-15. She had visiting fellowships at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China Foreign Affairs University in 2019. She regularly contributes essays to Shukan Toyo Keizai (Asian Economics Weekly<\/em>) and comments on Nihon Keizai Shinbun<\/em> (Nikkei), Yahoo! Japan News<\/em> and Asahi Shimbun on official bases. She has written papers and conducted extensive research activities not only in Japanese, but also in English and Chinese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was born in Kyushu. However, as I became an exchange student to the U.S. (Syracuse, NY) for a year from Kokura High School, and to Peking University from the University of Tokyo, I have lived my life with the help with many people from various countries. I am a mix product of those and not really sure where I belong to. Maybe I am a “frontier citizen.” Besides Japanese, I also speak and write in English and Chinese. I get used to the local food no matter where I go, so I believe I can live anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My favorite things: seas, volcanoes, chilly weather, frontiers, outdoors, Fuqi feipian (a kind of Sichuan cuisine), handicrafts, plants (especially white dandelions, ferns, hostas, bougainvillea, wild roses).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I’m really into gardening, especially the roses. I was deeply inspired by them in Weihai, Shandong!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
