Today, rapid growth of the numbers of Japanese deer and wild boars, and the expansion of their habitat throughout Japan, is causing not only damage to agriculture but also to the ecosystem and people’s lives. To deal with this problem, extermination has been positively done. There is, however, the problem of how to utilize the exterminated animals as a resource. At the same time, for large carnivores living in a stressful foreign environment at a zoo, “carcass feeding” has been proven to enrich their environment. To face the reality of this situation, during this symposium, we will enhance our understanding of attempts made to solve nuisance wildlife management problems and, at the same time, to solve problems of animal welfare at a zoo.    We are aiming to discuss how we can find solutions by connecting a solution to both problems.
